Beautiful 'Blues' shirts in support of the Chelsea FC Foundation

At MatchWornShirt, we are happy with every single shirt that hits our platform, seen that every one of them can be beautiful in their own way and supports a charity, whether it is from a small or big club. Nonetheless, it is always special when we get to collaborate with one of the most well-known clubs in the world. In this case that is Chelsea!

On the 20th of February, the Blues faced-off against Southampton at the St. Mary’s stadium. However, even though Chelsea played an away game, the team wore their traditional sapphire blue home kits. Immediately after kick-off, the shirts of some of the biggest names in the game went under the hammer. The proceeds of the shirts will directly support the club’s own foundation: the Chelsea FC Foundation.

The Chelsea FC Foundation has one of the world’s leading social responsibility programmes in football and aspires to help out those that need it most. The main part of their work is done in local communities, where they aim to promote education and social inclusion of young people, as well as support people with a disability and the elderly. Furthermore, the Foundation has a global partnership with Plan International. Together they strive to advance children’s rights and equality for girls all over the world, thus supporting refugees and many young people in Third World countries.

It goes without saying that the work of the Foundation has become quite challenging in the pandemic. Nonetheless, the club and Foundation came up with a Covid response plan, in order to continuetheir support to those who need it most. The Foundation delivers online education and provides virtual coaching and exercise sessions for young people, in order to protect their well-being and development. Pensioners and older people are also able to join online exercise sessions, as well as virtual social sessions. Furthermore, the Foundation undertook a number of initiatives to support vulnerable families, community groups and organisations affected by the pandemic by donating to and volunteering at local foodbanks.

It is amazing to see that a club can use the power of football and sport to motivate, educate and inspire as well as support communities and individuals both at home and abroad.

If the Blues’ shirts themselves were not already enough of a reason to place a bid, then the charity definitely should be!
