Celebrating the Year of the Ox Flamengo style!

With the world being more interconnected than ever before, we are now starting to acknowledge and celebrate local traditions on a global scale! The Year of the Ox upon us, people and organisations around the world are coming together to commemorate prosperity, good health and good fortune. According to Chinese folklore, the Ox symbolises hard-work, intelligence and reliability - characteristics that all modern sports enterprises would like to be associated with.

With the Chinese introducing an ambitious vision to make the country a world power in football by 2050, many foreign teams are starting to undertake some compelling marketing projects aimed at enhancing their influence in the Asian nation. One of Brazil’s biggest football clubs,  Flamengo, already has an established fan-following in China and recently unveiled their special-edition “Year of the Ox” shirts in celebration of Chinese culture and tradition.

The unique white-coloured kits include a special arm badge featuring a visual of an ox and the slogan “Flamengo is in China now!”. Furthermore, the players’ names on the back of the shirt have also been written in Chinese, making the one-of shirts that much more special!

These jerseys debuted against local rivals Fluminense during the derby of Rio de Janeiro last week and are currently being auctioned off on our platform! Go check them out by clicking here!
