MatchWornShirt Team Up with Common Goal and Chiliz Chain to launch the One Shirt Pledge

Common Goal, the biggest philanthropic organisation to operate within the world of international football, is launching a new project called One Shirt Pledge. As indicated by its name, one of the main components of this project will be an online auction featuring a collection of worn and signed shirts taken from some of the most admired players in the sport’s history, such as Wayne Rooney, Victor Osimhen, Giorgio Chiellini, Jermaine Jenas, Cristian Romero and Juan Mata. It makes us very happy to announce that MatchWornShirt will be collaborating with Common Goal to host this auction.

Each available shirt has been selected by a player for a personal reason. In the case of Giorigio Chiellini, the adamantine Italian defender decided to contribute the shirt he wore during the opening match of Los Angeles FC’s 2022 season - a match notable for being the site of Chiellini’s first goal outside of his native country, and also for making him, at 38 years of age, the oldest player on record to have scored in his debut for Major League Soccer. Jermaine Jenas’ shirt, by comparison, comes from Tottenham’s Hotspur 2-1 victory over Chelsea in the 2008 League Cup Final, where he took the free-kick that was converted into the game’s winning goal.

Already stunning and irreplaceable items of memorabilia, these shirts have been made even more unique by Chiliz Blockchain ensuring that every one of them is equipped with an NFC chip. When an owner’s phone interacts with an NFC chip, it will instantly generate a video of the player in question making his pledge to the One Shirt Pledge. Each of the shirts will have Proof-of-Authenticity on-chain, allowing owners to verify that their items are genuine.

And it’s not solely football shirts that are being auctioned! Among the items also available are a boxing glove signed by Oleksand Usyk (a multiple-time World-Champion), an MMA glove signed by Khamzat Chimael (recipient of the 2020 award for "Breakout Fighter of the Year”) and a black boot signed by Wayne Rooney.

As a charity organisation, Common Goal uses the power present in football to reveal and resolve the most serious issues afflicting our societies. What does this look like? It looks like combating racism, homophobia and all other forms of prejudice; it looks like making an effort to reduce economic inequality and accelerate action responding to the climate crisis.

Start bidding here to support all of the vital work being done by Common Goal!
