Incredible Bayer 04 Leverkusen shirts up for grabs!

You do not need to be a huge football fan to know that Bayer 04 is one of the most prominent clubs in the German Bundesliga. Bayer 04 Leverkusen Fußball GmbH, which is the full name of the club, was founded in 1904 and firstly served as a sports club for the employees of the German pharmaceutical company Bayer AG. The pharma giant is not only where the football club gets its name from, but also its apt nickname Die Werkself (The Company’s Eleven). Bayer 04 Leverkusen has known quite a few successful seasons in its rich history and even won the UEFA Cup in 1988 as well as the DFB-Pokal in 1993.

Over the years the fans of Die Werkself have seen some amazing German talents step on the pitch of the BayArena (previously known as Ulrich-Haberland-Stadion), such as German icons Michael Ballack and Rudi Völler, club legend Stefan Kießling and more recently, Kai Havertz. Furthermore, the club has also always been able to attract and/or raise some amazing international players, such as Brazilians Lùcio and Zé Roberto, Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal and Premier League legend Dimitar Berbatov, who is the club’s third highest top goal scorer.

Bayer 04 is also well known for its unusual home shirt, as it is one of the few clubs in world football that has an almost completely black kit. Over the last few years, Die Werkself played most away games in beautiful red shirts, but the club has also been known to swap the two around, such as in their 2014-2015 campaign.

This year, the club is also rocking a completely blacked out kit and even the crest received a makeover. The crest normally bears two red lions, two gold banners and the white Bayer logo in the middle, but this season it is all-white, which looks amazing on the black shirts. Furthermore, it is not woven into the shirt, but sticked on as a sort of rubber relief.
