Poppy Appeal 2022
The time has finally come! This year’s Poppy Appeal has now started and you can support the Royal British Legion by getting your hands on the unique worn and signed football shirts of your favourite athletes from sports clubs across England and Wales. This year we are introducing a new and innovative method to enter the race for your favourite piece of sports memorabilia and you will also be able to find more unique and special shirts. All of this is exclusively happening on the MatchWornShirt platform.
Like every year, the shirts are going to be completely unique in their nature as they will each display the iconic poppy. Last year’s event raised a total of more than £800,000 in proceeds with the likes of global superstars: Cristiano Ronaldo, Mohamed Salah, Phil Foden, Vivianne Miedema, Leah Williamson and Mana Iwabuchi shirts, each featuring in the fundraiser.
This year MatchWornShirt had the chance to interview England national team manager Gareth Southgate. Southgate, who will be the Three Lions’ coach entering this upcoming edition of the World Cup, highlighted the importance of this yearly event, which brings the nation together and which reminds and teaches us the virtues and principles of the symbol that the poppy represents.
