In professional cycling, 2023 was the year of Team Jumbo-Visma. Nobody else in the history of the sport has been able to match their accomplishment of the past season and secure first place in all three Grand Tours. There were many ingredients in the creation of this spectacular success, but what now comes through as the most dominant flavour is the unity of the team. Just as a bike needs a chain, a cycling team cannot triumph without there being strong links between its members. We witnessed one of the most vivid examples of this camaraderie in the ninth stage of the final Grand Tour, Vuelta a España, when the joint efforts of Jonas Vingegaard and Primož Roglič protected Sepp Kuss against all competitors in his pursuit of the prestigious Red Jersey.
