His Last MatchWornShirt

8 time Scottish Champion, 4 time Scottish Cup winner, 4 times Scottish League Cup winner, 2 time Norwegian Champion and 1 time Norwegian Super Cup winner. Mikael Lustig has won multiple trophies in 3 of the 6 clubs he has represented professionally. He has always impressed even on the international stage with Sweden where he has 94 caps with 6 goals, playing as a right-back. Unfortunately, at age 35, he has decided to hang up his boots, playing his final career game with AIK against IF Elfsborg.

Mikael Lustig’s best moments of his career mostly take place at Celtic between 2011 and 2019, being part of the Celtic team that went undefeated in the domestic competitions for the 2016-17 season playing under current Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers. The shear amount of trophies brought home whilst playing for the Hoops is one of the reasons why he is a real cult-hero between the fans, but also being part of historic wins like the 2-1 victory against Barcelona, who at the time had players like Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, and Dani Alves, a day after the club’s 125th anniversary, what a present. As if his status as Celts hero wasn’t enough, after his retirement announcement, Celtics legend and long-time captain Scott Brown said this of Lustig’s retirement: “Happy retirement, my friend. What a legend you are and a true friend. Wish you all the luck in the future.”

Lustig also played in the Swedish national team from 2008 till last year. He was part of the historic 2018 World Cup run where Sweden managed to top their group against Mexico, Germany and South Korea, beat Switzerland in the round of 16 to reach the quarter finals, where they eventually lost to a strong England side.

If you want to get your hands on the last worn and signed shirt of Mikael Lustig’s career, head to the auction, so you don’t miss your chance to wear the unique shirt of a Celtic legend.
