Amazing gesture by Spurs sponsor supports underprivileged children
By some, London is considered the football capital of the world, as it has 12 different professional clubs that showcase incredible performances on a weekly basis. Furthermore, six of these clubs actually play in England’s top tier: The Premier League. Tottenham Hotspur is one of them.
It goes without saying that Spurs are one of the biggest teams in Europe, as they consistently play in either the Champions League, where they reached the final in 2019, or the Europa League. In their 138-year history the Lilywhites have earned 2 Premier League titles, 8 FA Cups and 3 UEFA Cups.
Tottenham are very well-known for their white shirts, often paired with navy blue details, and this season’s kits are no different. The base of the shirt is still white, but with some features some light-grey highlights, giving it an almost camo effect. Furthermore, the shoulders bear thick navy-blue stripes that also run down the sides, but then a lot thinner. These stripes are accompanied by neon-yellow ones that can also be found in the collar. The front showcases shirt sponsor AIA, which has been present on the players’ chest since 2014.
However, fans with a keen eye will have noticed that AIA has recently been replaced for one game. In the match against Sheffield United, that ended in a convincing 4-0 victory for the Spurs, thanks to a Gareth Bale hattrick, AIA offered its spot on the shirt to the ISF.
The Indochina Starfish Foundation (ISF) is a Cambodian charity with over 13 years of experience using education and sport to change lives. In the Indochina region, many children live in poverty and are not able to get a good education, as less than 5% of Cambodian youth finish high school. Many children have to work in dire circumstances and often do not have a long expectancy of life. ISF’s vision and mission are thus very clear: “A society free from poverty and inequality” and “to increase access to education, healthcare, and sport, enabling underprivileged children and their communities to lift themselves out of poverty.”
Thanks to this amazing gesture by AIA and Spurs, have not only thousands of children been helped, but Tottenham have also created a unique shirt! A shirt that fans and collectors can now get their hands on!
These amazing kits are now available, and the funds raised will support the incredible work of ISF Cambodia and the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.
