French Football Doesn't Forget
For the third year running, we are excited to announce the French league-wide auction in collaboration with the ‘Ligue de Football Professionnel’, which will include all Ligue 1 UberEats and Ligue 2 BKT clubs, as well as the French National Women’s Team and the French National Under-21 Team. This initiative is underway to raise awareness for the ‘Bleuet de France’ which is managed by the ONACVG, the National Office for Veterans and Victims of War. All shirts and auctions are collectively placed online at https://www.matchwornshirt.com/Lfp.
The LFP took the opportunity to gather 245 shirts from matchday 15 in Ligue 1 Uber Eats, Ligue 2 BKT and French football as a whole, in order to arrange a league-wide auction aimed at raising awareness for the Bleuet de France and the duty to remember. Last year the LFP auctions were a great success raising almost 100,000 euros in proceeds.
This year we are excited to present various highly anticipated and polarising shirts like the ones of Sergio Ramos, Alban Lafont, Marco Verratti, and Achraf Hakimi. The auctions of these stars, and of all the other shirts, started on the 15th of November at 4pm, with the Ligue 2 BKT auctions closing on the 27th of November at 2 PM and the Ligue 1 Uber Eats closing at 3 PM. Each shirt is incredibly special and meaningful thanks to the presence of the Bleuet de France flower featured on the chest.
The Bleuet de France was born during the First World War, and similarly to the English poppy, it was one of the few colourful flowers growing on the soils of these dark and grim battlegrounds. The Bleuet de France since then has become the symbol of remembrance and solidarity in France towards the Armed Forces. The ONACVG, the National Office for Veterans and Victims of War, manages the Bleuet de France charity, which every year provides assistance for veterans, victims of war and terrorism, widows and orphans, as well as maintaining this tradition alive, year in and year out. All the proceeds from the auctions will be donated to the Bleuet de France charity, in order to help the ONACVG have an even larger impact on the lives of the people they have dedicated their existence to.
