Brazil is Not Alone - Alisson Becker Fights the Floods with Exclusive Liverpool Auction

After seven glittering years at Anfield, Becker’s heart still beats for his home country. During this time he has also served as the primary goalkeeper for the Brazilian national team, bringing the same character and consistency to performances in the World Cup and the Copa America as he did when helping Liverpool win the 2019-20 Premier League title. It is no surprise, given the strength of Becker’s connection to Brazil, that he has been especially affected by the floods that have recently wrought such devastation in the country’s southern regions, among them the city in which he was born and brought up, claiming the lives of over 150 people and destroying the homes and occupations of many more.

In such situations, there is always a painful sense of powerlessness. This is how Alisson Becker must have felt, watching the floods from England - stuck on the other side of the world while Rio Grande do Sul disappeared beneath rising waters.

But Becker was not in a powerless position. He could - and did - do something to help, by generating money for the victims of the floods with a charity auction for unique Liverpool memorabilia. Fans had the chance to get their hands on an amazing array of premium products, from the match-worn & signed shirts of club legends such as Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah and Cody Gakpo to a pair of trainers signed by Jürgen Klopp in his final game as manager.

We’re incredibly proud to have worked with Becker and the Liverpool FC Foundation to have hosted this one-off auction and raised funds for such a deserving and important cause.
