MatchWornShirt Raises Funds for the Royal British Legion

This November, football clubs across the UK are once again showing support for the Royal British Legion by adding the emblem of a poppy to their match-shirts during the period of Remembrance.

MatchWornShirt is making these poppy-adorned shirts available to the public through a series of exclusive live auctions, with the net proceeds being donated to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. Every shirt that appears in an auction is individually signed by the player who wore it, assuring its status as an authentic piece of sporting history.

The Poppy Appeal is the perfect time to explore MatchWornShirt - as we host auctions for the biggest and brightest players in British football. Whether you’re interested in securing the shirt of Erling Haaland or Heung-Min Son, Mo Salah or Bukayo Saka, this is a moment that cannot be missed!

Prefer to get your hands on a match-worn rugby shirt? You’re in luck - Leicester Tigers and Bath Rugby are donating their shirts to the RBL, bringing this unique opportunity to sports fans beyond the world of football.

In the lead-up to the campaign, MatchWornShirt met with two icons of English football, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher, to discuss the significance that the Poppy Appeal holds for them.

The Poppy Appeal

The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal takes place from Thursday 26 October until Remembrance Sunday on 12 November. Every year the RBL leads the nation in Remembrance across the UK to honour the contribution of our Armed Forces community, past and present.

Since it was first worn as an act of Remembrance just over 100 years ago, the poppy has become an enduring symbol of support for our Armed Forces. Remembrance unites people of all faiths, cultures, and backgrounds.

Every donation to the RBL’s Poppy Appeal helps to provide vital support to the Armed Forces community and ensure their unique contribution is never forgotten.
