C.R Flamengo Auction Unique Anti-Racist Shirt

At the end of last month the Brazilian government introduced a new law meant to combat racist abuse in football.

Named after Vini Jr, the 23 year old Real Madrid winger who has recently been the victim of bigoted chants from spectators in La Liga, it demands that stadiums suspend play during matches in the event that racism is reported on their grounds.

Before signing for Real Madrid, Vini Jr. began his career at C.R Flamengo, being accepted into the club’s academy when he was only nine years of age. And while he may no longer wear Flamengo’s signature crimson and black stripes, they have chosen to announce their complete support for their former player by auctioning a shirt (issued for fellow Brazilian Gabriel Barbosa in a 1-1 draw against Cruzeiro) with an anti-racist slogan emblazoned on its front: “Everyone with Vini Jr.”

This shirt is a unique piece of football memorabilia. In addition to bearing that historic and singular slogan, it has been autographed by Vini Jr. - the man for whom it was designed.
