For a good cause: Germany’s national team auctions its hand-painted “Human Rights” shirts

The "Human Rights" shirts, hand-painted by the German national players, are up for auction.

With this action, DIE MANNSCHAFT not only wants to point out that it is our daily task to stand up for human rights - always and everywhere in the world - but above all to provide tangible help. The proceeds will go to the organization "BAG Wohnungslosenhilfe e.V.", which has dedicated itself to tackling homelessness and poverty in Germany, and which the national team has already supported with its foundation in the past. In order to help as a team - as was the case last year, when the national team provided, among other things, emergency covid aid of 2.5 million euros.

The national team's clear statement attracted worldwide attention: Immediately before kick-off of the World Cup qualifier fixture against Iceland, the DFB team lined up in shirts that had previously been painted by the players. Each of the black shirts displayed a white letter. Together they formed the words "HUMAN RIGHTS". A strong commitment to the 30 universally valid human rights, which was to be followed by other actions in the following qualifying matches.

The team intends to support the charitable work of the "BAG Wohnungslosenhilfe e.V." with the proceeds of the auction. In the spirit of Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) of the United Nations (UN), which grants everyone the right to an adequate standard of living.

Für den guten Zweck: Nationalmannschaft versteigert ihre handbemalten „Human Rights“-Trikots

Die von den deutschen Nationalspielern handbemalten "Menschenrechte"-Trikots werden versteigert. DIE MANNSCHAFT will mit ihrer Aktion schließlich nicht nur darauf hinweisen, dass es unsere tägliche Aufgabe ist,  für Menschenrechte einzutreten – und zwar immer und überall auf der Welt! ,Sondern  vor allem auch konkrete Hilfe leisten. So kommt der Erlös der Organisation "BAG Wohnungslosenhilfe e.V." zugute, welche sich die Bekämpfung von Obdachlosigkeit und Armut in Deutschland zur Aufgabe gemacht hat, und für die sich die Nationalmannschaft mit ihrer Stiftung bereits in der Vergangenheit stark gemacht hat. Um im Team zu helfen – wie bereits im vergangenen Jahr, als die Nationalmannschaft unter anderem eine Corona-Soforthilfe in Höhe von 2,5 Millionen Euro bereitstellte.

Das klare Statement der Nationalmannschaft fand weltweit Beachtung: Unmittelbar vor Anpfiff des WM-Qualifikationsspiels gegen Island nahm das DFB-Team Aufstellung in vorher eigens von den Spielern bemalten Trikots. Auf jedem der schwarzen Shirts prangte ein weißer Buchstabe. Zusammen bildeten sie die Worte „HUMAN RIGHTS“. Ein starkes Bekenntnis zu den 30 universell gültigen Menschenrechten, welchem in den folgenden Qualifikationsspielen weitere folgen sollten. Und nun eine starke Aktion:

Denn die einzigartigen Trikots können ab Samstag, dem 24. April, ab 15:00 Uhr MEZ ersteigert werden. Die Mannschaft möchte mit dem Erlös der Auktion das gemeinnützige Wirken der „BAG Wohnungslosenhilfe e.V.“ unterstützen. Ganz im Sinne des Artikels 25 der Allgemeinen Erklärung der Menschenrechte (AEMR) der Vereinten Nationen (UN) , der jedem Menschen das Recht auf einen angemessenen Lebensstandard zuspricht.
